It is observed by Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan at a specific time in the evening, immediately after sunset, during the Maghrib call to prayer. Traditionally, Muslims follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by breaking their fast with dates and water and then praying the Maghrib prayer before eating a full meal. Iftar is not just a time for eating, but also a moment of gratitude, supplication and unity.
