Bashundhara Shuvosangho members organised an iftar mahfil
and a discussion session on the “moral teachings of Ramadan” at a restaurant in
Lama municipality in Bandarban on Wednesday.
Shuvosangho Lama Upazila unit President Md Shahidul Islam, and
General Secretary Md Iqbal Hossain moderated the event. Also present were the
upazila unit’s Adviser and Lama Press Club General Secretary Md Kamruzzaman and
national daily Kaler Kantho’s local correspondent Md Tanfizur Rahman.
At the discussion session, the speakers said Ramadan is a
month of self-restraint, self-purification and for becoming conscious of the Omnipresent
Almighty. People also learn to become god-fearing and to stay alert against the
tendencies to committing any sin even in secrecy.
The month also teaches about ethics, honesty and
humanitarian values. The speakers urged the young generation to absorb the moral
values of the month of fasting. Based on the teachings the youths must work to
eradicate wrongdoings, and corruption from society on the road to building peaceful,
humanitarian neighbourhoods, they said.
