Members of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho in Shariatpur shared iftar with underprivileged and working-class people on Saturday evening.

The district unit organised the programme at Bismillah Sweets and Kacchi King Restaurant in the town’s court area, where around 50 people joined the gathering.

District committee President Advocate Mizanur Rahman Molla led the event. Adviser and Shariatpur correspondent of Kaler Kantho Shariful Alam Imon, General Secretary Firoz Mia, Vice-President Advocate Harun-or-Rashid, Organising Secretary Shamim Ahmed, Finance Secretary Rimon Dhali and Communication Secretary Shamim Sikder also attended.

Amena Begum from Dhanuka area, who breaks stones for a living, expressed emotion after attending the iftar. She said no one had ever invited her to a restaurant for a meal in this way and offered prayers for the organisers. She urged them to continue arranging such programmes for poor people every year.

Van driver Chamed Bepari from Palong said his daily earnings hardly support his family. He said the organisers showed respect by seating them together for iftar and described the gesture as deeply meaningful.

Mizanur Rahman Molla said Ramadan teaches restraint and compassion and urged society to stand beside disadvantaged people. He said Shuvosangho aims to remain involved in humanitarian work.

Shariful Alam Imon said the initiative sought not only to arrange an iftar but also to build heartfelt connections with neglected members of society. He said the organisation would continue such efforts in the future.
