Gallery “Chitrak” hosted an exhibition “My blue stories” by Russian artist SofyaYechina

Gallery “Chitrak” with the support of the Russian House in Dhaka began a weeklong solo exhibition “My Blue Stories” (Amar Nil Golpogulo) by the Russian artist and a member of UNESCO International Association of Art Sofya Yechina.

It featured a collection of artworks painted with acryl, oil and pastel, earlier displayed at 26 international events abroad, said the Russian Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday (Oct 26).

The exhibition was unveiled on Monday (Oct 24) by Minister of Information and Broadcasting of Bangladesh Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, and Ambassador of Russia Alexander Mantytskiy.

Director of the Russian House in Dhaka Maxim Dobrokhotov, Executive Director of the Gallery “Chitrak” Md Muniruzzaman, poet and writer Aminur Rahman and Bangladesh's legendary artist Syed Abul Barak Alvi also took part in the event.

In his speech, Dr Hasan Mahmud warmly recalled the contribution of the Soviet Union in the Liberation War of Bangladesh and expressed hope for further bilateral cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Other dignitaries highlighted the importance and vast potential of cooperation between Russia and Bangladesh in the field of culture.

On this occasion, the book “100 Poems of Bangladesh” by prominent Bangladeshi poets translated into Russian was handed over to the guests. Representatives of the local cultural community, the Embassy of Russia in Dhaka, the Russian diaspora in Bangladesh and mass media also attended the opening ceremony.

The exhibition will remain open for visitors till October 29, 2022, from 11 am to 8 pm.
