13 full-length Bangladeshi films to be screened at DIFF
The nine-day international festival begins on 20 January

The 22nd edition of Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) will begin at different venues in the capital on 20 January. A total of 13 full length Bangladeshi films including two joint venture movies will be screened at the nine day-festival.
Rikita Nandini Shimu and Jaya Ahsan-starrer “Fereshte” will be shown as the inaugural film in the Asian Competition category. The Morteza Atashzamzam-directed Bangladesh-Iran joint venture film will be screened at 5:00pm after the inaugural ceremony of the festival at the Bangladesh National Museum Auditorium.
The main attraction of the festival for the domestic cinema audience is the “Bangladesh Panorama-Full Length Section”. A total of 12 movies of the country will be shown in this section. Bangabandhu’s biopic
“Mujib: The Making a Nation” directed by Shyam Benegal will be screened as the first movie of this category on 20 January. The Bangladesh-India joint venture movie will be screened at 7:00pm in the main auditorium of the National Museum.
Among the other films, “Muntasir” directed by Iffat Jahan Momo will be screened at the same venue at 5:00pm on 21 January. Actors Elina Shammi, Manoj Pramanik, Shatabdi Wadud and others have played different roles in the film.
Raisul Islam Anik’s film “Iti Chitra” and “Ajab Chhele” directed by Manik Manabik will be screened at 7:00pm on 22 January at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum and National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) respectively.
Anan Siddiqa, Lutfar Rahman George, Iresh Zaker- starrer film “Barir Naam Shahana” will be shown at 7:00pm on 23 January at national museum. Lisa Ghazi is the director of the project.
The movie “Just a Joke Darling” directed by Imtiaz Hossain will be screened at Shilpakala Academy at 7:00pm on the same day.
Pantho Prosad’s “Sabitri” will be shown on 24 January. The film stars Rokeya Prachi, Nargis Akhtar, Ananta Hira, Vaishakhi Ghosh and others.
On the evening of 25 January, the screening of Walid Ahmed-directed movie “Megher Kapaat” will be held. Rakib Hossain Evan, Sydney Rolling, Tonni, Raju Ahsan, Saif-Uz-Zaman, Rezaur Rahman Rizvi, Afroza Momen, Rehena Parvin and others have acted in the movie.
Hridi Huq -directed film “1971: Sei Shob Din”, will be screened at the National Art Gallery of Shilpakala Academy on the evening of 26 January. Ferdous Ahmed, Sajal, Litu Anam, Sanjida Preeti, Hridi Huq, Tareen Jahan, Mamunur Rashid, Abul Hayat and many others have played different roles in the project. On the other hand, Habibur Rahman’s film “Ichamati” will be screened at the National Music and Dance Auditorium of the academy at 5:00pm on the same day.
Besides “Bangladesh Panorama-Full Length Section”, others Bangladeshi films will be screened in different categories.
It may be mentioned that, a total of 250 films from 75 countries will be screened in various sections, including Asian Cinema, Retrospective, Tribute, Wide Angle, Bangladesh Panorama, Cinema of the World, Children Films, Women Filmmakers, Short and Independent Films, and Spiritual Films at the festival.
The Film Festival (DIFF) will continue till 28 January.
