CHATTOGRAM: In a unique move, Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) is going to deploy ‘striking force’ to keep roads and footpaths of the city free from encroachment afresh.

Earlier, the CCC has started a crash programme to free the encroached roads and footpaths in the city.

CCC Mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury told the Daily Sun that usually, the freed roads and footpaths are re-occupied by the encroachers immediately after the end of the drives.

To check the misdeed, they have formed a 21-member ‘striking force’ comprising members from the CCC Conservancy Department, he said.

Members of the force in uniform will inspect the freed roads and footpaths of the city regularly.

They will patrol the city all time and report to the Conservancy Department, if any incident of re-encroachment is noticed, said the mayor.

Later, mobile court will be conducted to evict the encroachers again, said Mayor Rezaul warning that no encroacher will be allowed on the city roads and footpaths.

The CCC will do everything to bring back beauty of the city, he said.

“We are also fixing some places for pasting posters to check the uncontrolled pasting of posters destroying the beauty of the city,” Rezaul added.
