Rohan was awarded 75,000 Qatari Riyals (approximately Tk25 lakh) for his photograph titled “Traditional Rice Process in Bangladesh.”

The award was presented to him by Qatar's Minister of Culture, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, during the Doha Photography Festival 2025 on 5 November.

This year’s competition received 31,681 entries from 5,206 photographers around the globe. Shaima Al Matawa of Qatar claimed first place in the category, while Ali Al Qamishi from Bahrain secured second.

Rohan’s award-winning photograph was taken at a Chatal (traditional rice processing yard) in Brahmanbaria. It captures the timeless process of drying paddy, an essential practice that continues to play a vital role in Bangladesh’s rural economy.

After winning the prestigious award, Rohan said, “The photo reflects not only the daily labour of the workers but also the cultural and historical depth of Bangladesh’s rural heritage.”

Rohan, born and raised in Dhaka, completed his early education at Residential Model School and College before continuing his studies in the United Kingdom. He later pursued photojournalism at the New York Institute of Photography and currently resides in the United States.
