Overcharging Passengers, Fraudulence

7 vehicles, 7 filling stations fined

CHATTOGRAM: A mobile court of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) fined the owners of seven public transports Tk 25,000 for charging additional fare and lacking documents in different areas of the city on Monday.

 BRTA Executive Magistrate Mishkatul Tamanna carried out the drive in the city’s Wasa Intersection, Lalkhan Bazar and Dampara areas.

 The magistrate said seven vehicles including buses and CNG-run auto-rickshaws were fined Tk 25,000 for charging additional fares and lacking necessary documents during the drive.

Meanwhile, a mobile court of Chattogram district Administration fined Tk 1 lakh to two refueling stations and sealed off one of them on charge of fraudulence in weight in the city’s Oxygen area on Monday.

 Assistant Commissioner (AC-Land) Masud Rana of Chandgaon Circle carried out the drives at ‘Amin Jute Mill Filling Station’ and ‘Hazi Wajed and Sons Filling Station’ of the area. The court fined Tk 50,000 to each of the filling stations, said the AC Land.

Besides, the ‘Amin Jute Mill Filling Station’ was sealed off temporarily for testing their equipment, he said.
