Sheikh Russel look to bounce back against Uttar Baridhara

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Uttar Baridhara Club in their 18th match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League at the Bashundhara Sports Complex today.

Sheikh Russel lost their previous match against the defending champions and league leaders Bashundhara Kings by a 3-2 margin at the same venue last week but they showcased tremendous fight in the game.

Meanwhile, Uttar Baridhara Club played a 1-1 draw against Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj last week.

Currently, Sheikh Russel are in the eighth position with 18 points while Baridhara are in ninth with 13 points.

“The match against Uttar Baridhara will be a tough one because these teams can do anything in the match,” Sheikh Russel head coach Zulfiker Mahmud Mintu told The Daily Sun.

“Our target will be to earn at least 10 points from the rest of the five matches,” he said, adding that they want to end the ongoing BPL campaign with a respectable rank.

Meanwhile, in the day’s other matches, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will play against Chattogram Abahoni Ltd at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Cumilla while Dhaka Abahani Ltd will face Saif Sporting Club at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Dhaka Abahani are in second place with 38 points while Saif SC are in third place with 30 points. Sheikh Jamal DC are in fourth place with 30 points and Chattogram Abahoni are in sixth place with 26 points after playing 17 matches in the ongoing league.
