Short film show held at Dhaka University

An exhibition of short films under the banner of ‘Projonmo Wave Season- 2’ was held at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium in Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday. US Embassy in association with the Faculty of Social Science of Dhaka University has organised the event.

Three short films- ‘Morning Coffee’ directed by Bashar Georgis, ‘Headline’ directed by Abid Mallik and Chaitali Samaddar-directed ‘Magfirat’ were showed at the event. Popular actors Afzal Hossain, Jakia Bari Mamo, Imtiaz Borshon, Tawfiqul Islam, Sangeeta Chowdhury, Shahed Ali, Mohammad Rafiq, Somu Chowdhury and others have acted in the films.  

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas and Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present as a delegates guest in the programme. 

Ryan P Brummet, PACOM Augmentation, US state Department was the welcome speaker of the event. The directors and actors of the short films were also present. The directors of the films talked about their works and answer the audience’s questions in the programme.

The short film covers vivid topics of society such as women’s empowerment, respect for law enforcers, social media mishaps, religious intolerance, and many more. The films are also available on YouTube and the official Facebook page of Projonmo Wave.

Through Projonmo Wave, various social issues have been highlighted and talked about through short films to awaken and inspire the youth over the past few years.
