BSMMU to start liver transplantation

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) will begin liver transplantation in its hospital soon as part of its initiative to provide world-class liver disease treatment facilities for the people of the country.

"The BSMMU has all of the necessary arrangements for liver transplantation. The transplantation of the liver will begin as soon as possible. To this end, all technical arrangements have already been made," said Prof Dr. Sharfuddin Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor of BSMMU.

The BSMMU VC came up with the statement while speaking at a view exchange meeting with a four-member delegation of liver transplantation experts from India at his office on Sunday morning.

The delegation of Indian physicians will stay in Bangladesh for two days. During this time, they will share their experience of liver transplantation with teachers and students at the Hepatobiliary department of the BSMMU.

They will also give an opinion about the patients in the hospital.
