Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal made his commentary debut during the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League T20’s eliminator match between Chattogram Challengers and Khulna Tigers in Mirpur on Monday.
Tamim represented Minister Group Dhaka in the ongoing BPL but his side failed to reach the knockout stage and it paved the way for him to test his skills with the microphone in the commentary box.
“I was offered to join the commentary team during the last series against Pakistan but I couldn’t join for some personal reasons,” Tamim, who also visited the press box, said.
“This time I just tried it to see how it felt to be in the box with Athar bhai (Athar Ali Khan) and this is really interesting.
“’I had no experience with commentary before and I just spoke about cricket but this is a really interesting thing and something to look forward to probably,” he added.
Former national batsman Athar became a full time commentator after his cricketing career was over while Shahriar Nafees and Mehrab Hossain Jnr also tried their hands before.
Current national selector and former skipper Habibul Bashar also tried his hand in Bangla commentary in a previous edition of the IPL.
