Unidentified miscreants set fire to a parked bus belonging to Trust Transport Service in the capital’s Pallabi area late Wednesday night.

The incident occurred around 12:10 am on Sagutta Road in Pallabi, said Fire Service officials. Upon receiving the report, two units from the Pallabi Fire Station rushed to the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control.

Md Shahjahan, the duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, confirmed the incident. “Two firefighting units from Pallabi Station are working at the site to douse the flames,” he said.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be immediately determined, he added.

Police suspect the incident may be part of a recent string of arson attacks targeting vehicles across Dhaka amid heightened political tensions.
