Miscreants set fire to a parked passenger bus on the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway in Feni’s Mohipal area on Wednesday night, damaging the vehicle’s interior.

The incident occurred around 10:30 pm in front of the Palli Bidyut office, located south of the Mohipal flyover, police said.

According to local sources, unidentified individuals suddenly torched a stationary Rony-Rana Paribahan bus on the Dhaka-bound lane of the highway. Fortunately, no passengers were inside the bus at the time, and no casualties were reported.

Eyewitness Siddiq Ullah said the area is commonly used for parking by bus drivers in the evening. “Around 10:30 pm, we heard shouts and saw flames coming from the bus. Residents rushed to the spot and managed to extinguish the fire using water,” he said.

The driver’s seat and front portion of the bus were partially damaged in the blaze.

Feni Fire Service and Civil Defence Station’s Senior Officer Abdul Majid said, “By the time our team arrived, locals had already put out the fire. The front section of the bus was partially burned. It appears to be an act of sabotage.”

Feni Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Samsuzzaman said police rushed to the scene immediately after being informed. “We are investigating whether this incident is linked to any planned act of sabotage. Patrols have been intensified in the area, and legal measures are being taken,” he added.
