Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate of the country, continues to bring smile to the faces of cold-hit people including physically challenged children by providing them with blankets.
On Tuesday, 100 students of an autistic school received blankets in Kushtia Sadar upazila.
In the last four days, Bashundhara Group distributed 1,700 blankets in various places in Kushtia.
In Sreebardi Upazila of Sherpur, 650 insolvent families worst affected by the bitter cold received blankets and heaved a sigh of relief. The recipients hail from various places of Nakla, Nalitabari and Jhenaigati upazilas.
Jhenaigati Upazila Chairman SM Warez Naim, among others, was present.
In Nakla upazila of Sherpur, around 200 destitute people received blankets and expressed their gratitude to the Bashundhara Group. Held at Nakla Govt Pilot High School compound, the event was attended by Upazila Parishad Chairman Shah Mohammad Borhanuddin, upazila Awami League General Secretary, freedom fighter Shafiqul Islam Zinnah and AC Land Kawser Ahmed.
Receiving a blanket, Jamal Uddin, a 70-year-old freedom fighter, lauded the Bashundhara Group for standing beside the poor and vulnerable people.
Retired additional secretary Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Dhamoirhat Upazila Chairman Md Azhar Ali Mandal, and panel mayor Muktadirul Huq and local dignitaries attended the programme.
In Natore Sadar upazila, 500 impoverished people received blankets at a programme held in Shankar Gobinda Choudhury Stadium complex.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Ashraful Islam, Superintendent of Police Liton Kumar Saha, and United Press Club President Rezaul Karim were present. Sunita Pal, an elderly woman, along with her granddaughter came to receive a blanket. After getting blanket, she expressed gratitude and wished Bashundhara Group owner more prosperity and happiness.
