CHATTOGRAM: A fire broke out at a garment factory in the city’s Polytechnic area on Tuesday.

Sources in the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) department said the fire broke out at third floor of six-storey building of ‘Anwara Garments’ around 7:45am.

It spread fast to the cutting section on the third floor at that time.

On receiving information, 11 fire fighting units from different fire stations rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after a three-hour frantic effort, said Deputy Director Anisur Rahman of the FSCD.

Cause and damages in the fire couldn’t be known immediately, he said.
