Follow Bangabandhu’s cooperative philosophy of agriculture: Minister

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed on Saturday called for applying the philosophy of cooperatives introduced by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in modern agriculture system in the country, reports BSS.

“It is possible to bring about a revolution in agriculture if farmers cultivate in a modern way through the practical application of the ideology of cooperatives introduced by Bangabandhu,” he said addressing a discussion organized by the district administration in Lalmonirhat on the occasion of the 50th National Cooperative Day-2021, said a press release.

Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Md Abu Jafar presided over the function while District Council Chairman Advocate Matiar Rahman and District Superintendent of Police Abida Sultana were also present, among others. The minister said that the cooperatives are deeply involved in the development of Bangladesh. After independence, Bangabandhu had started working to build a society based on the ideology of 71’, where ‘cooperative’ was one of the foundations of the economy, he said.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took charge of the country in 1996 and accelerated the cooperatives activities,” he added.

He called upon the farmers who are involved in co-operatives to cultivate in a modern way by embracing Bangabandhu’s co-operative economic spirit.
