Hotel workers get relief in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Some 233 hotel workers hardest-hit by the Covid-19 pandemic situation were given humanitarian assistance to mitigate their hardship and starvation.

Each of the affected workers was given a food-package containing eight kilograms of rice, two kilograms of potato, 500 grams of lentil and 500 milliliters of edible oil.

Rajshahi City Residential Hotel Owners Association (RCRHOA) distributed the food support at the conference hall of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) on Friday afternoon maintaining health rules to limit the Covid-19 spread.

City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton distributed the support as chief guest expressing his gratitude to the hotel owners for standing beside their affected workers.

RCRHOA President SM Ehsan, General Secretary Khandaker Hassan Kabir and Vice-president Abul Bashar Shahidullah were present on the occasion.

Mayor Liton said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to ensure food security for the jobless people amidst the present troubled time.

Mayor Liton said there is no crisis of food as the government has sufficient stock and urged the recipients not to be panicked in this regard.

The city corporation has been distributing relief materials among the affected families to tackle the present troubled situation and the assistance will continue until the situation ends.
