Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Sunday urged the city residents to slaughter sacrificial animals in the designated spots.

“We have designated some 270 spots in all 54 wards under the city corporation for slaughtering sacrificial animals. I urge you all to slaughter animals in the spots,” Atiqul said.  The DNCC marked around five spots in each ward, he added.

The mayor made the call after visiting two makeshift cattle markets at Saidnagar in Vatara and at Block-E of Eastern Housing in Aftabnagar. Making a threat of tougher action against those violating health guidelines, Atiqul asked the authorities concerned with the makeshift cattle markets to ensure the health guidelines of the government.

He said, “We are not only conducting three mobile courts in all nine cattle markets, but also assigned at least five councilors to oversee the maintenance of guidelines in each market.  The cattle markets, which will ignore health guidelines, must be closed.” Atiqul urged the city residents to make complaints against rule violators to the authorities concerned through ‘Sobar Dhaka’ app.
