Corona Cases Declining

57 more die, 2,177 cases detected

The number of daily coronavirus infection cases has been declining day by day as 2,177 new infection cases and 57 deaths were recorded in the country in the last 24 hours till Friday morning.

According to data of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of coronavirus deaths has been increasing day by day across the country as 1,711 Covid-19 patients died in the last 19 days.

Among the 57 deceased, 32 were men and 25 were women. Of them, one was within 21-30 years old; one was within 31-40 years old; seven were between 41-50 years; 13 within 51-60 years; and 35 were above 60 years old.

Of the fresh deaths, 37 died in different government hospitals and 18 in different private hospitals and two died on the way to hospital across the country.

Of the deceased, 28 hailed from Dhaka, 13 from Chattogram, two from Rajshahi, five from Khulna, two from Barishal, two from Rangpur and five from Sylhet division.

The DGHS said the total number of deaths from the deadly pathogen has reached 11,450 with 57 new deaths in the last 24 hours till Friday morning. The total death rate has risen to 1.51 percent.

Some 2,177 infection cases were reported in the last 24 hours till Friday morning, raising the total number to 7,59,132. The daily infection rate has stood at 10.34 percent in the last 24 hours.

Some 4,325 more patients have recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 6,81,426 in the country till the day. The recovery rate has stood at 89.76 percent.

The DGHS said 13.88 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 10.34 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.

A total of 21,046 samples, out of 20,842 collected, were tested at 419 labs in the country during the period, the report added. A total of 54,69,704 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 the same year in the country.

The DGHS said 575 severely ill patients were undergoing treatment in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of Covid-19 dedicated hospitals and at corona units of other hospitals across the country.
