Bashundhara Kings women team’s five out of 21 national footballers have reported positive at the Bangladesh Football Federation residential camp.
They are: forward Krishan Rani Sarker, midfielders Monika Chakma, Ritu Porna Chakma and defenders Anai Mogini, Nilufa Yeasmin Nila and they are currently in isolation at the BFF camp.Kings manager Pinky Sanwar told The Daily Sun on Sunday that the players caught a cold due to playing a league match on April 4 in the rain. “BFF informed us about it two or three days ago. All of them are now okay. We suspended the camp on April 10. They were in good health when we sent them to BFF camp as per the instructions,” Pinky said.
Concurring Pinky, forward Krishna also said that they caught a cold due to playing their last league match in the rain.
“BFF tested us while we came here on April 11. We came to know that we were COVID-19 positive after getting the reports on April 14,” the forward said.
Meanwhile, Kings played their last match of the 4th Women’s Football League against newcomers Kachijhuli Sporting Club in the rain at the Birshrestha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on April 4. They closed the camp on April 10 after the league suspension due to the lockdown and sent all the 21 national players to the BFF camp on the next day.
