JASHORE: Export, import through Benapole land port remained suspended from Sunday.
The trade suspension effected from Sunday morning due to the occasion of Dol Purnima widely known as ‘Holi’ in India.However, the loading, unloading and goods delivery remain normal in the port.
Besides, international check post of the port remains open for cross border passengers.
Karthik Chakraborty, general secretary of the Petrapole C&F Staff Welfare Association of India, said Dol Purnima is a Baishnob festival. This spring festival is known as ‘Holi’. The Holi festival is celebrated for the destruction of evil spirits.
The C&F owners, employees, handling workers, truck drivers returned to their respective areas to celebrate the Holi festival. Import-export activities will resume in full swing from Monday morning.
Meanwhile, Benapole Check Post Immigration Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ahsan Habib said the passengers’ traveling between the two countries is normal.
