Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday called upon all to remain united to foil all plots being hatched against the Awami League-led government.

“Conspiracies against the government haven’t stopped yet…plotting is still going on. So, all have to take a vow to thwart the conspiracies unitedly,” he said.

Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, made the call while delivering the introductory speech at a discussion at the AL headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue with Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

The ruling party organised the discussion, marking the 101st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day.

The minister firmly said his party remains in power but still has the control on streets.

“It’s our pledge on the birthday of Bangabandhu for making united efforts to thwart conspiracies to topple the government and mislead the state,” he said.

Bangabandhu is a name that established in its glory, Quader said, adding that Bangabandhu is manifested in its self-glory despite attempts to remove his name.

“Now Bangabandhu has been glorified among the people of the country and

even world leaders respond today to the celebration of his birthday,” he said.

AL organising secretaries Ahmad Hossain, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon and Mirza Azam, international secretary Shammi Ahmed, Dhaka North AL president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and Dhaka North AL general secretary Humayun Kabir, among others, addressed the discussion.

While addressing the 5th day of the 10-day special state programme marking the golden jubilee of independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu, Quader also called upon the countrymen to strengthen Sheikh Hasina’s hand to build Bangabandhu’s ‘Sonar Bangla’.
