1 lakh more get vaccine

Around one lakh people got vaccinated against Covid-19 across the country on Thursday, bringing the total to 42,18,127.

According to data released by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 99,174 more people received first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine across the country on the day.

Of the total vaccine recipients, 62,197 were males and 36,977 females, it said adding that only nine cases of side effects have so far been reported. 

With this, a total of 42,18,127 people have so far received the first dose of Oxford-AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine across the country.

Of the vaccine recipients,            

26,88,462 were male and 15,29,665 female. A total of 881 vaccine recipients have so far reported side effects, the DGHS said. It also said 13,34,187 people received vaccine in Dhaka division including 6,73,095 in the capital, 1,80,265 in Mymensingh, 8,78,560 in Chattogram, 4,58,192 in Rajshahi, 3,88,942 in Rangpur, 5,53,212 in Khulna, 1,90,256 in Barishal and 2,34,513 in Sylhet division.

A total of 54,62,165 people registered online to receive the vaccine until 5:30pm on Thursday since the start of the registration process.

However, around 48 lakh coronavirus vaccine doses are still in stock as more vaccines will reach the country in the current month, health ministry sources said.
