Missing woman’s body found in Brahmanbaria

BRAHMANBARIA: Police have recovered a body of a mother of three children near a pond in Bijoynagar upazila in the district.

On Saturday morning police recovered the body from Jalalpur village of Harashpur union in the upazila. The deceased Rahima Begum, 45, wife of the visually impaired Shahid Miah of the village, had been missing from Friday afternoon.

Family members said Rahima went out of the house on Friday afternoon for shopping.

Bijoynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Atiqur Rahman said, after being informed, police rushed the spot and found the body was lying on the bank of the pond. A belt, made with cloth, was twisted around her neck.

The body was sent to the Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue for autopsy, OC said.

No complaint has been lodged by the family yet. Legal action will be taken if any complaint is received, He added.
