The rate of daily coronavirus infections has declined while the death rate has risen across the country.
Eight more coronavirus infected patients died and 387 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning. The death toll rose to 8,229.According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 387 new cases were detected in the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Tuesday, raising the total number to 5,38,765.
Some 642 more patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number to 4,84,573.
The DGHS data said the coronavirus death rate has stood at 1.53 percent. On the other hand, the recovery rate has reached 89.94 percent, it added.
The health directorate said 14.26 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 2.67 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.
A total of 14,578 samples, out of 14,468 collected, were tested at 206 labs in the country during the period, the report added.
A total of 37,77,242 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the country.
