Dhaka Stock Exchange ended week with good vibes on Thursday as investors remained mostly busy booking profits with cautious positioning.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), advanced 8.61 points or 0.15 per cent to settle at 5,836.The DSE 30 Index comprising blue chips also went up by 0.94 points or 0.04 per cent to finish at 2,208 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) climbed by 4.58 points or 0.36 per cent to close at 1,294.
Turnover settled at Tk 12.13 billion on the country’s premier bourse, dropping 14.31 by per cent over the previous day’s mark of Tk 14.16 billion.
Out of 360 issues traded, 143 declined, 132 advanced and 85 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Robi Axiata topped the turnover chart with 17.10 million shares worth Tk 1.54 billion changing hands, closely followed by Beximco, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Summit Power, GBB Power and Bangladesh Finance and Investment Co.
Energypac Power was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.89 per cent, closely followed by CAPM IBBL Islamic Mutual Fund, Intraco Refueling Station, GBB Power, Bangladesh Finance and Investment Co and Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh.
Paramount Insurance Company was the worst loser, losing 7.61 per cent, closely followed by Eastern Insurance Company, Peoples Insurance Company, Mercantile Insurance Co, Northern Islami Insurance and City General Insurance Co.The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI –advancing by 34 points to settle at 17,021 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 21 points to close at 10,272.
Of the issues traded, 112 advanced, 89 declined and 55 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city’s bourse traded 16.32 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 583 million.
