34 ‘gamblers’ arrested

Rapid Action Battalion-10 (RAB) in separate drives arrested 34 alleged gamblers from Keraniganj, Demra and Kadamtali in Dhaka on Monday.

A team of the RAB-10 raided a gambling spot at Baktarchar in South Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, and held Mojibur Rahman, 55, Nazrul, 48, Shukkur Ali, 40 and Kalam Sheikh, 65, said a press release of the force on Tuesday.  Three mobile phone sets, playing cards and Tk 6,500 in cash were recovered from their possession.

Another team of the force unit raided another spot at Sanarpar at Demra and arrested nine gamblers. They are Iqbal Sheikh, 30, Syed Hossain, 52, Mohammad Jewel, 21, Mohammad Sajib, 20, Mohammad Salim, 35, Lahu Munshi, 21, Mohammad Badsha, 28, Nazrul Islam, 28 and Nur Alam, 23.

Six mobile phone sets, playing cards and Tk 3,740 in cash were seized from their possession. In the meantime, another team of the RAB-10 raided a gambling spot at Munshikhola in Kadamtali and held 21 gamblers.

They are Nayan, 26, Farhad, 30, Alamgir Hossain, 50, Mohammad Habib, 30,  Mohammad Bhulu, 55, Alamgir Hossain, 35, Milon, 30, Swapan Mia, 32, Ratan Bepari, 35, Mohammad Siddique, 35, Mohammad Khalil, 38,  Mohammad Solaiman, 31, Abdul Momin, 50, Mohammad Titu, 40,  Mohammad Hossain, 38, Mohammad Siddique, 45, Razu Sarder, 24, Hossain Babu, 18, Abdus Salam, 45, Mohamamd Rubel, 26, and Manik Hossain, 34.

The RAB men seized 22 mobile phone sets, playing cards and Tk 21,556 in cash from their possession.
