Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader alleged that BNP is carrying out political activity to achieve their own ends, not for people’s sake.

BNP and its collaborators are busy inventing imaginary stories at home and abroad by abusing technology, he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was speaking at a ceremony marking distribution of warm clothes, inauguration of different projects and foundation stones laying for some development works in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali on Thursday.

The minister joined the function via video conferencing from his official residence on parliament premises in the capital.

Quader further alleged that vested interests are spreading propaganda against the government on social networking sites and in other ways.

“We’ll have to put up strong resistance against conspirators,” he said.

The AL general secretary also accused BNP of making an attempt to cause unrest throughout the country in a bid to fish in troubled waters. He called upon BNP not to make any such effort. There is no other way to go to power without polls, he said.

Mentioning that BNP is a patron of extremists, Quader said religious bigots have mounted a challenge to the spirit of War of Liberation by showing a total disregard for building the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The AL general secretary urged party leaders and workers to project different achievements and success of the government of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina.

AL Kabirhat Upazila unit President Nurul Amin Rumi and Mayor of Kabirhat Municipality Jahirul Islam Raihan, among others, also spoke.
