A mobile court of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Thursday conducted an eviction at Fulbaria Super Market-2 for a third successive day and knocked down more than 200 illegal shops.

DSCC Executive Magistrates Md Moniruzzaman and A H M Erfanuddin Ahmed led the drive while Chief Estate Officer Rasel Sabrin and Zone-4 Executive Officer Haider were present on the spot.

Md Moniruzzaman, also the estate officer of DSCC, said they bulldozed more than 200 illegal shops in Southern part of the market.

“We have demolished the illegal portion of the market which was built in violation of the design.”

He said DSCC pulled down more than 600 illegal shops in three days and they will continue the drive until all the illegal shops are demolished.

During the drive police were on high alert for any unwanted situation, as businessmen of the markets protested against demolition of the shops on the first day of the drive.

DSCC sources said that 911 shops have been constructed in staircase, walkway and parking spaces of the market illegally over the years, which is divided into A, B and C blocks (City Plaza, City Plaza and Nagar Plaza).
