ACC approves charge sheet against 18

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday approved a charge sheet against 18 people in a case filed over FR Tower fire in the capital’s Banani.

The charge sheet against the accused was approved at the ACC’s headquarters, said ACC Director (media) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

ACC deputy director Abu Bakar Siddique will submit the charge sheet to the court soon over the fire incident that claimed 5 lives, he said. 

Owner of FR Tower Hossain Imam Faruque, Quasem Drycells Limited managing director Tasvir-ul-Islam, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) former building Inspector Nazrul Islam, Director (Estate) Samsul Alam and former deputy director (Estate) Mohammad Shawkat Ali are among the persons, who have been  made accused.

ACC investigation found that the accused in collusion with each other extended the tower from 19th to 23th floor, violating building codes and abusing their power.

The ACC also dropped the names of seven accused in the case as the charges brought against them were not found true during the investigation.
