Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has put special emphasis efficient public expenditure management along with domestic and overseas resource mobilization for successful implementation of FY21 budget.
“For successfully implementing 2020-21 fiscal year’s budget, we’ve to be careful about internal and external resource mobilization and an efficient expenditure management,” he said.He said this at a virtual meeting with secretaries of the four divisions under the ministry of finance on Tuesday.
The finance minister stressed on more coordinated work between the four divisions of his ministry to keep up the macroeconomic momentum.
Kamal informed that although the quarterly meeting between the four arms of the finance ministry remained suspended for Covid-19, it will now be held regularly on rotation basis at different divisions.
At those meeting, performance of these agencies will be reviewed and complications will be removed, he also informed.
The finance minister expressed satisfaction over the country’s achieving 5.24 percent GDP growth per-capita income rising to $2,064 in 2019-20 fiscal year. For this, he also expressed gratitude to the people of the country.
Finance Secretary Abdur Rour Talukder, National Board of Revenue Chairman also the Secretary to Internal Resources Division (IRD) Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, Banking and Financial Institution Division Senior Secretary Asadul Islam and Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Fatima Yasmin took part at the meeting.NBR chairman informed the minister that revenue collection was low in July, but it is rising as export and imports now gathered pace.
The finance secretary sought NBR’s assistance in keeping the budget deficit within the projected 6 percent of GDP.
