Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said people of the country got astonished at the fraudulence by two institutions in Covid-19 sample testing.
“People have got astonished at the fraudulence by the two hospitals in coronavirus sample testing,” he said.The Awami League general secretary made the remark while addressing a virtual press briefing at his official residence in the capital. “Even image of Bangladesh in abroad has been tarnished for such misdeeds,” he also said.
Referring the testing scam, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, called upon the authorities concerned to bring all the wrongdoers under justice soon. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government neither spared wrongdoers in the past nor will do in the future,” he said.
In this regard, the minister reiterated the government’s tougher stance against any irregularities and corruption in the country’s health and all other sectors.
“The Anti-Corruption Commission has the jurisdiction to take action by conducting probe wherever there is any allegation,” he said. Slamming Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Quader said BNP failed to stand by people during the crisis instead of criticism.
Over ongoing coronavirus crisis and flood situation, the minister said apart from mutual cooperation, sincerity and affection, strong morale is needed to overcome the ongoing crisis.
“Coronavirus infection, addressing flood situation and arranging cattle markets following the health guidelines are the three major challenges for the government right now,” he said.About cattle markets before Eid-ul-Azha, Obaidul Quader said the number of cattle markets should be the minimum ahead of Eid-ul-Azha to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
Digital platforms could be a possible option to deal with the growing pressure of sacrificial animal sale, he added.
