Man held with 70 gold bars in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: Officials of Customs arrested a passenger with 70 gold bars at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport in the city on Monday. 

The arrestee identified as Md Akhtaruzzaman arrived at the airport by a flight of Bangladesh Biman Airlines from Abu Dhabi at around 11:00am.

The Customs Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Riyadul Islam said on suspicion, they searched luggage of Akhtaruzaman and recovered the gold bars kept tactfully inside four charger lights.  Market price of the gold bars weighing 8.200 kilograms would be around Tk 3.5 crore, he said.  Filing of a case with the Patenga Police Station in this connection was under process, he added.
