Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu stated that he is satisfied with the performance of the players in the just concluded four-day match series against Sri Lanka ‘A’ Team.
Minhajul added that the only area of concern for them is the way their bowlers bowled in the second innings as he feels they still have some grounds to cover in bowling.“Both the matches had been held on flat track. Batsmen performed well, bowlers especially in the second innings of the two matches was not up to the mark,” said Minhajul.
“It is really tough to take twenty wickets on a flat deck. Therefore, our bowlers have to learn bowl well in the second innings,” he said.
‘’We lack consistency in this aspect of cricket and this is what we need to improve to fare well in the longer version cricket,” Nannu told media.
Minhajul showered praises on players of the likes of Mominul Haque, Shadman Islam Anik, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury.
“Mominul and Shadman batted well. In bowling, Miraz bowled in the right places reducing the number of his short deliveries. Even, Ebadot has improved a lot,” the chief selector opined.
The two four-day matches between Bangladesh ‘A’ Team and their Sri Lankan counterparts ended in draws. Due to rain, the first four-day match had been rescheduled and eventually turned into a three-day affair.Bangladesh are now playing a three-match one-day series following the four-day series. BCB brought changes in the one-day squad. .
