54 Rohingyas fleeing camps detained in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: Police detained 54 Rohingyas, who fled from camps in Cox’s Bazar, from different areas of the city on Thursday night and early Friday.

Sources said a good number of Rohingyas came to Chattogram fleeing from the camps in the Cox’s Bazar and engaged in begging in different areas of the city. 

The Rohingyas especially children used to make people bother for alms in the areas. 

Office in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin of concerned Kotwali police station said they conducted drives in Kazir Dewri, Circuit House and Outer Stadium areas following the allegations and detained the Rohingyas on Thursday night and Friday early hours.

The detainees include eight men, 14 women and 32 children, he said. 

Process for sending the Rohingyas back to their camps was underway, the OC added.
