BHOLA: Awami League Advisory Council member Tofail Ahmed on Thursday urged people to cast their ballots for electoral symbol ‘Boat’ in the upcoming parliamentary elections to sustain the momentum of development in all sectors of the country.

“Vote for boat on December 30 election to continue the ongoing development of the country,” he told a meeting at Biswaroad of West Elisha Union under sadar upazila.

He said, “BNP will try the war criminals but they gave them (war criminals) nomination for parliamentary polls.

And how will they try them?”

About the balance of power between the President and Prime Minister what BNP highlighted in their election manifesto, Tofail said, “This is absolutely absent across the globe.”

He, also the commerce minister, criticized BNP’s election manifesto saying, “BNP’s election pledges are unrealistic . . . they mentioned that there would be no age bar in entering any job.”

Referring to the role of Oikya Front and Dr Kamal Hossain, the senior ruling AL leader said “He (Dr Kamal) is a man of without principle.”

Refuting the allegation of BNP that they (BNP) cannot do their election work properly, the minister said BNP men do not go to people’s door to seek vote as they earlier unleashed the reign of terrors and common people did not forget their misdeeds and tortures till date.

A mass public support has been created for boat throughout the country, he said, adding, “People are still afraid of Bangladesh Nationalists Party (BNP) due to their men’s misdeeds in 2001.”

The Awami League leader, also the candidate for the next JS polls from Bhola-1 constituency said people are ready for giving the answer of it in December 30 polls.

District Awami League (AL) general secretary Abdul Momin Tulu, joint general secretary Jahirul Islam Nakib, organising secretary Mainul Hossain Biplob and upazila (sadar) AL general secretary Nazrul Islam Goldar, among others, also spoke in the election campaign at different public meeting here.
