BNP will hold talks with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at his official residence in the capital on Wednesday to learn about a specific election timeline.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior party leaders will join the meeting at State Guest House Jamuna at 12pm, BNP chairperson’s press wing said Tuesday.
A day earlier, Fakhrul told reporters that he is confident of forging unity with the government and other stakeholders for resolving all thorny issues including the election roadmap.
Senior party leaders have told reporters that in his last speech Prof Yunus set a wide timespan between December 2025 and June 2026 to hold the next general elections. This is not a specific roadmap, they said.
In Wednesday’s meeting, the party would want to know specifically the thoughts and position of the interim government regarding the elections, party leaders said. Party leaders have also alleged the government is creating a “cloud of confusions” over the election date.
