Bangladesh pace bowler Shoriful Islam made his ICC T20 World Cup debut on Wednesday against England.

Shoriful, who was part of the winning squad of the Under-19 World Cup last year, made a cut in playing XI following seaming all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has been ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury.

“Shoriful Islam is back for Bangladesh. We have also picked three spinners. It looks a good wicket to bat on, want to put a total on the board,” Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah said after winning the toss.

Shoriful claimed 1-26 from 3.1 overs.

The left-arm young pacer Shoriful didn’t get a nod in Bangladesh’s last four matches in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. Even he was overlooked in Bangladesh's last T20 series against New Zealand at home soil despite showing a lot of promises with the ball. He played just one T20 match against New Zealand in a five-match T20 series.
