As Mushfiqur Rahim approaches his historic 100th Test against Ireland at Mirpur, Bangladesh batting coach Mohammad Ashraful expressed deep admiration for the veteran cricketer’s discipline, longevity, and impact on the game. Having witnessed Mushfiqur’s journey since his debut at Lord’s, Ashraful described the milestone as a proud moment for Bangladesh cricket and a testament to Mushfiqur’s unmatched commitment.

"I was in the dressing room at Lord’s during Mushfiq’s debut match. And Inshallah, I’ll also be there for Mushfiq’s 99th and 100th Tests. That’s why I feel very fortunate," Ashraful said.

He noted that Mushfiqur’s two-decade career has been built on strict discipline in every aspect — from fitness to preparation — making him a true role model for the next generation. Ashraful also highlighted Mushfiqur’s remarkable record, including being Bangladesh’s first double-centurion.

"The only reason he’s reached this stage is one thing — discipline. He’s the first Bangladeshi cricketer to play 100 Tests and Bangladesh’s first double-centurion.My personal opinion is that in Bangladesh, for the future — and even for those currently playing — everyone should see Mushfiq as a role model," Ashraful concluded.

Calling the 100th Test a moment of national pride, Ashraful suggested that more recognition should be given to players of Mushfiqur’s stature. The milestone will be reached during the upcoming Ireland Test series, starting 11 November.
