The country’s premier golfer Siddikur Rahman won the fifth edition of the Paragon Professional Golf Tournament at the Army Golf Club on Wednesday.
Siddikur carded a total of five-under-par 211 after the end of the third and final round on Wednesday to add a new feather to his crown.
The 35-year-old professional golfer, who returned to the course with this professional tour after a long layoff, scored one-under-par 71 to place second after the first round of the opening day on Monday.
Siddikur went on top of the leader-board carding one-under-par 71 on the second day and he carded three-under-par 69 in the third round to confirm the top-prize.
Siddikur expressed his happiness after the win as he returned to the course after a long layoff.
“It was a misfortune for Zamal (second-placed), but I have played for the win. It feels good although it was a domestic tournament. However, it feels good as I become a winner after returning from a long layoff, but I could have done better,” he told reporters after the win.
Siddikur last competed in four major tours -- Hong Kong Open and SMBC Singapore Open in January, New Zealand Open presented by Sky Sport in February and Bandar Malaysia Open in March -- before the COVID-19 break.
Zamal Hossain Mollah finished second carding total of three-under-par 213. Akbar Hossain ended third carding total of one-under-par 215.
The 54-hole event offered a prize purse of Tk 15 lakh.
