Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) on Sunday urged the government to give special focus on four sectors for accelerating the country’s economic growth.
The sectors are revenue mobilization, banking, capital market and external trade or trade balance.CPD made the suggestion in a report title “State of the Bangladesh Economy in the fiscal 2019-20”. The report was published at the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) Auditorium in the city.
CPD Distinguish Fellow Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Executive Director Dr Fahmida Khatun, Research Director Dr Khondokar Golam Moazzem and Research Fellow Dr Towfiqul Islam presented the report.
CPD Distinguished Fellow Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya also attended the report launching function.
Debapriya Bhattacharya said Bangladesh will have to accelerate the reform activities in the financial sector for developing the country’s economy as the world economy is going towards economic recession.
He said the evaluation of the 1st quarter for the fiscal 2019-20 can help effective implementation of the current fiscal’s budget.
