Syria returned IS militant held in capital

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) has arrested a Syria returned Islamic State (IS) militant.

 

The members of CTTC arrested the militant who had flown to Syria to join the war with IS from Uttara in the capital on Sunday.

 

He is identified as Mutaj Abdul Mazid Kofil Uddin Bepari alias Mutaj (33).

 

It is learnt that he is an active member of IS militant group. After his arrest on Sunday, a case has been filed under Anti terrorism law in Uttara Paschim Police Station. The case number is 7.

 

Abdullah Ibn Sayeed, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Uttara Paschim Police Station informed journalist in this regard. He was handed over to the court on Sunday and granted a four-day remand.

 

The CTTC is interrogating him, said the SI.
