BGB seizes 2 lakh yaba pills in Teknaf

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized two lakh pieces of yaba tablet from Jimbongkhali area of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.

BGB personnel, in a drive, recovered the tablets early Friday.

Maj Shariful Islam Jomaddar, acting commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2 in Teknaf said, acting on tip-off, a team of BGB battalion-2 conducted an operation in Jimbongkhali area of Hoaikong Upazila and captured a boat with huge number of Yaba pills from a canal.

“Sensing the presence of the BGB members, the smugglers managed to escape leaving behind a boat,” he said.

Seized Yaba pills were now stored in the office of BGB Battalion-2.

These will be destroyed soon in the presence of high officials, representative of Narcotics Control Department and journalists later, BGB source said.
