‘Poetry and Painting’ connects poets of home and abroad

To strengthen the bond of literature through poetry, on Wednesday a handful of poets from Bangladesh and six other countries gathered and shared their works.

Eight Bangladeshi and seven foreign poets came together at a programme titled "Poetry and Painting" held at National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy as part of the four-day long "Dhaka International Poets Summit 2019".

Additionally, noted Bangladeshi painter Maksudul Ahsan's painting exhibition was inaugurated which reflected the poems of said 15 poets.

Attending Bangladeshi poets included Asad Chowdhury, Nurul Huda, Jahidul Haque and others. Seven foreign poets were --- Ali Al-Shalah of Iraq, Annabel Villar and Julio Pavenetti of Uruguay, Claire Booker of United Kingdom, Kama Sywor Kamanda of Congo, Malim Ghozali of Malaysia and Tianxin Cai of China.

Cultural figures of the country attended the event as the poets recited from their works.

A book titled 'Poetry and Painting' containing their poems and paintings of Maksudul was also unmasked.

The seven-day long painting exhibition will end on February 7.

Chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir presided over the event while M Shah Alam Sarwar, Managing Director of IFIC Bank, was present as chief guest.
