JAMALPUR: A joint meeting of different unions of journalists led by BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists was held at Pat Hati intersection of Bakshiganj upazila in the district protesting the killing of journalist Nadim, reports BSS.
BFUJ, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Mymensingh Union of Journalists (MUJ) jointly organised the protest meeting with MUJ president Ataur Rahman Khokan in the chair.
The speakers at the meeting strongly condemned the killing of journalist Nadim and demanded exemplary punishment of those involved in the killing.
BFUJ president Omar Faruque said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set up a welfare trust for ailing and insolvent journalists.
He said journalists should be sincere while covering news. They must maintain objectivity in discharging their responsibilities, he said and called upon journalists to work being imbuing with the ideal of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Earlier, the journalist leaders visited the house of slain journalist Nadim who was injured by miscreants on June 14 at Pat Hati intersection in Bakshiganj Upazila and died the next day at hospital.
They talked with Nadim’s family members and offered fateha at the grave of Nadim and placed floral wreaths.
