NARAIL: A 53-year-old man was hacked to death allegedly by his cousin over a trifling matter in Lohagara upazila of Narail on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Babul Sheikh, son of Afzal Sheikh of Handola village in the upazila.
Being informed, Babul went to the land to stop them. Later, they locked into an altercation over the cutting of the trees. At one point, Ripon hacked Babul with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued him with serious injuries and took him to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex, where doctors of the emergency department declared him dead.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station Nasir Uddin said that the body was sent to Narail Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Besides, additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation, added the OC.
