Argentina’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has confirmed his visit to Bangladesh in the first week of July.
Emiliano, who played a vital role in Argentina’s third World Cup triumph in Qatar last year, on Monday wrote on his official Facebook page that he would make his first tour to the Indian sub-continent in July and would participate in many activities.
“I know Kolkata and Bangladesh have huge Argentina fans and I am very excited to meet them. Thank you Satadru for this initiative! Ami tomader bhalo bhashi!” he concluded.
Sports promoter Satadru Dutta, who hails from Kolkata, earlier this month informed that Emiliano expressed his interest to visit Bangladesh during his three-day tour of India.
During the last FIFA World Cup, the craziness of Bangladeshi fans for Argentina football was one of the highlights of the tournament and Lionel Messi and co were also touched by the support from their Bangladeshi fans.
Emiliano recently helped Aston Villa to qualify for Europa Conference League after they finished seventh in the just-concluded Premier League.
