Two new faces in preliminary squad for FIFA friendly, SAFF

Forward Rafiqul Islam of Fortis Football Club and defender Murad Hasan of Mohammedan Sporting Club earned their maiden call-up in Javier Cabrera’s 35-member preliminary squad of the national football team for the upcoming FIFA friendly match and SAFF Championship 2023.
Defender Yeasin Arafat of Bashundhara Kings, midfielders Md Ridoy and Mahadi Hasan Royel of Dhaka Abahani, defender Mehedi Hasan of Mohammedan, defender Isa Faysal of Bangladesh Police FC and midfielder Abu Shaeid of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club were also included into the squad.
The announcement came after a meeting of the national teams committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation, chaired by BFF vice-president and committee chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP at its house on Saturday.
The committee also appointed former footballer and BFF EC member Amer Khan as team manager for the men in red and green’s friendly match away in Cambodia on June 15 and SAFF Championship from June 21 to July 4 in Bengaluru, India.
The committee informed that the list of the 35-member squad will be submitted to the SAFF committee by Monday, but they will select 27 players for the preparation camp which is expected to begin on June 4 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital.
Preliminary squad: Goalkeepers: Anisur Rahman Zico, Sahidul Alam, Mitul Marma and Mehdi Hasan Srabon; Defenders: Topu Barman, Yeasin Arafat, Bishwanath Ghosh, Rimon Hossain, Tutul Hosain Badsha, Tariq Kazi, Alomgir Molla, Rahmat Mia, Mehedi Hasan, Murad Hasan, Isa Faysal; Midfielders: Sohel Rana, Masuk Mia Zoni, Saad Uddin, Md Ridoy, Md Sohel Rana, Mahadi Hasan, Jamal Bhuyan, Hemanta Vincent Biswas, Mojibor Rahman Jony, Rabiul Hasan and Abu Shaeid; Forwards: Rakib Hossain, Suman Reza, Matin Mia, Eleta Kingsley, Foysal Ahmed Fahim, Mohammad Ibrahim, Sahariar Emon, Rafiqul Islam and Aminur Rahman Sojib.
