Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday evening to pay an official visit on February 15-16 at the invitation of Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen.
On his arrival at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu, Masud warmly received Vinay Kwatra.
During the two-day visit, both the foreign secretaries will hold Foreign Office Consultation (FOC), which will review the entire range of bilateral relationship, including political and security, water, trade and investment, power and energy, defence, connectivity and sub-regional cooperation.
Apart from holding the foreign secretary-level FOC, the Indian foreign secretary will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
The visit to Bangladesh is keeping in line with the highest priority accorded to India’s ‘Neighborhood First Policy’, said the High Commission of India (HCI) in Dhaka.
“Bangladesh is India’s top-most development partner and its largest trade partner in the region,” the HCI said, adding: “The foreign secretary’s visit will further strengthen bilateral ties and impart momentum to the ongoing cooperation in diverse areas.”
